About

Hello readers, I’ve started this blog as a kind of virtual scrapbook; it will be a more satisfying way of keeping track of and sharing (instead of languishing in my bookmarks) the artists and projects I discover on a daily basis. I’ll also be posting new photographs from the “Forget Me Not” project, scans of emphemera and vernacular images found at the estate sales and updates about any exhibits/publications that include my work.

BIO:
Leilani Wertens (b. 1985 Orange, California) received a BA in art history and print journalism from the University of Southern California and is completing her MFA in photography at Columbia College Chicago. She’s worked as a curatorial assistant at the Happy Lion gallery in LA and received a J.Paul Getty multicultural grant to fund a conservation project at the LA Public Library. Currently working as a research assistant in Columbia’s art history department, Leilani recently was a recipient of an Albert P. Weisman grant and the Iris and Stuart L. Baum completion grant. Beyond being a photographer, she considers herself to be a book worm, thriftaholic and cupcake connoisseur.
